Firstly, I make sure I'm very much aware of the topic that is to be told to a student and then I will start explaining the topic from the basics so that the student will be able to understand the concept. I will then make sure that the student has clearly understood the topic and then will ask him/her a few questions or ask him/her to re-explain the topic.
