About Ansels

A am a composer, performer and music educator with more than ten years of experience in teaching people from various age groups and backgrounds. Classical music education gives me a solid technical foundation and thorough understanding of musicianship and music theory, but I've continued to develop myself as a musician in various genres, including rock, blues, flamenco, jazz and others. Incorporating a wide range of teaching aspects, I help students to find personal achievement in a professional and organised environment, developing confidence and independent learning skills. I believe that discovering how music works (its structure, harmonic language, elements of style, etc.) enriches our appreciation of music itself, enabling us to engage with it on a deeper and more meaningful level.

About the lesson

I strongly believe that learning music is one of the best choices that one can make and it should be accessible to anyone at any time in her/his life. To assist someone on this journey is a task that I find truly rewarding. The studying process is organised around the music that you enjoy listening to. For every class you will receive pdf handout sheets designed individually for each student and covering the music material that we are working on. I make sure that every theme is broken down into easy-to-follow steps, ensuring that you always feel confident about where you're at and have a clear sense of perspective ahead.

Perfect! Ansels is a brilliant tutor, couldn't ask for a better teacher for myself. He has a great ability to make learning the guitar fun and engaging. He breaks things down into manageable chunks, and helps me focus on both improving the skills I already have, and building new skills and techniques. I've learned so much from him, and always look forward to my lessons with him.

Perfect! Ansels has been teaching me Flamenco guitar for a couple of months now and I can highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn this style of guitar playing. I'm am a very experienced guitar player (folk, blues, rock etc) but flamenco is a very different style. I am self taught and don't read music, so learning flamenco style is a new adventure for me. I've also had some health problems over the last few months with lots of fatigue, muscle and bone pain which has made practising very hard. But Ansels has been so patient and understanding especially when I needed to take some time out for my health. But now I'm feeling much better and I will be back with Ansels very soon to try to get my flamenco playing up to a better standard before I head off to Spain in the summer!

Ansels is both a great musician and teacher.

I'm fortunate to have received music theory lessons, as well as counted with Ansels as a session musician playing cello and guitar for several recording projects of mine, and he's always been very professional and creative.

Ansels is very patient and listens to your doubts before showing you how to approach learning and giving you the best methods. His criticism is always constructive and his classes are hence very relaxed and enjoyable.

I'd recommend him to anyone who's starting to learn guitar or cello, or wanting to grasp the essentials of music theory, harmony and rhythm.
