About Krysten
Hi! I’m Krysten, and I’m currently working toward my degree in Secondary Education with the goal of becoming a high school English teacher. I’ve always enjoyed working with people and helping things “click,” especially when something feels confusing or frustrating at first.
I know that English isn’t everyone’s favorite subject, and that’s okay. My goal is to make it feel more approachable and less overwhelming, whether we’re working on essays, reading, or general schoolwork.
I’m patient, supportive, and easy to talk to, and I try to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.

My approach as a tutor is supportive, clear, and focused on helping students actually understand what they’re learning—not just memorize it. I break down reading and writing concepts into simple, manageable steps so students can build skills with confidence.
A typical lesson starts with identifying what the student is working on or struggling with, whether that’s an essay, reading comprehension, or general classwork. From there, we go step by step—reviewing concepts, working through examples together, and then practicing so they can apply the skill on their own.
I focus a lot on building confidence, especially for students who feel frustrated or behind in English. I’m patient, easy to talk to, and I adjust my teaching style based on how each student learns best.
My lessons are ideal for middle school and high school students who need support with writing, reading, essays, or general English coursework, especially those who want a more relaxed and approachable learning environment.
