About Cristian

Hello! I’m Cristian a dedicated third-year medical student with a 3.97 GPA in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a 3.5 GPA in medical school. My academic strengths and deep passion for science education have led me to tutor extensively over the years from serving as an Organic Chemistry II tutor during undergrad to tutoring physiology, biochemistry, and microbiology in medical school. I specialize in breaking down complex, high-yield topics into clear, digestible concepts. Whether it’s mastering biochemical pathways, understanding clinical physiology, or preparing for the MCAT or medical board exams, I focus on helping students build a strong conceptual foundation that leads to both academic confidence and lasting success. My tutoring sessions are interactive, personalized, and centered on understanding over memorization. I’ve worked with students at every level from premeds and MCAT takers to OMS-I and OMS-II students helping them overcome their most challenging subjects and reach their academic goals. Tutoring Rates (Based on Subject Level & Complexity) $35/hr – College-level science: General Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I & II, and Biochemistry (Ideal for undergraduate and pre-med students, or advanced high school learners) $40–45/hr – MCAT Preparation: Science content review, strategy, timing, and clinical reasoning integration (For students preparing for the MCAT who want focused, efficient review) $50–60/hr – Medical School Content: Physiology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and board prep (COMLEX Level 1 / Step 1) (System-based learning with board-style question reinforcement and clinical tie-ins) I'd love the opportunity to help you gain mastery, boost your confidence, and meet your academic goals. Let’s work together to make even the most intimidating topics approachable and manageable!

As a third-year medical student with a strong foundation in biomedical sciences, my tutoring approach centers on conceptual integration — I don’t just teach students to memorize facts, but to understand the “why” behind the material so they can apply it across disciplines and exam settings.

My lessons are highly interactive and tailored to each student’s needs. I begin by identifying their weak points, reviewing recent material they've covered, and using guided questions to help them draw connections between topics. For example, when tutoring biochemistry, I don’t just review pathways — I relate them to clinical scenarios and integrate associated pharmacology or pathology whenever relevant.

Quick knowledge check (5–10 minutes): Review last session or quiz a high-yield concept.

Core concept walkthrough (20–30 minutes): Use visuals, analogies, and layered questions to break down difficult topics.

Active application (15–20 minutes): Practice problems, flash recall, or clinical-style vignettes.

Wrap-up & retention strategy (5 minutes): Key takeaways + how to reinforce the material independently (e.g., First Aid pages, Sketchy links, or practice Q recs).

What sets me apart is my ability to connect complex material across systems, making topics like biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, and organic chemistry not only digestible, but actually engaging. I’ve tutored both undergraduate students (e.g., Organic Chemistry II) and medical students in physiology, microbiology, and biochemistry, so I understand how to scale explanations depending on the learner's level.

I also emphasize test-taking skills for students preparing for MCAT, Step 1, or COMLEX Level 1, helping them interpret buzzwords, avoid traps, and improve question-stem analysis.
