About Janessa

My name is Janessa Dixon, and I have been a public school educator for the past 9 years. I have taught various levels of high school English, and I will be starting a new chapter as a middle school educator in the fall! I am passionate about helping students grow in their reading comprehension, analytical skills, and writing abilities!

About the lesson

With 9 years of high school classroom experience, I bring a deep understanding of how to help students succeed in English. My lessons focus on building strong foundations in writing and reading comprehension, tailored to meet each student’s individual needs and learning style.

I use a supportive, student-centered approach that combines clear instruction with practical exercises. Whether we’re analyzing literature, working on essay structure, or strengthening critical reading skills, I aim to make each session engaging and confidence-boosting.

A typical lesson includes a short review, targeted instruction on a key skill or text, guided practice, and time for feedback and questions. I also provide tools and strategies students can use outside of lessons to grow independently.

I specialize in helping middle and high school students—whether you're aiming to improve grades, prepare for assessments, or develop stronger communication skills, I’m here to help you reach your goals.
