About Luca

IB 45 | 99.95 ATAR | 99th %ile UCAT | 3 years tutoring experience | Wealth of resources and expertise

Hi I'm Luca! I recently graduated from Pembroke School achieving a perfect score of 45/45 in the International Baccalaureate Program. Despite unfavourable grade boundaries post-COVID and an updated and difficult ATAR conversion system, my IBAS score converted to an ATAR of 99.95. Whilst preparing for exams and writing IAs, I also scored a 99th %ile UCAT score of 3350. Having 3 years of tutoring experience, I have a wealth of resources and knowledge that ensures success for students of all levels, building confidence in an undoubtedly challenging and rigorous program.

Many of my component scores were in the 90s - considerably higher than the average grade boundary for a 7 (in the 70s/80s). I tutor the following subjects:

- English Literature SL .... 90% in Paper 2
- Chinese SL .... 100% in Oral, 95% in Paper 2 reading
- Geography SL + HL .... 96% in Paper 3
- Chemistry SL + HL .... 98% in Paper 1 (now Paper 1A in 2025 NEW syllabus)
- Mathematics Analysis and Approaches SL + HL .... 95% in Paper 1, 96% in Paper 2
- Music SL .... 96% in Exploring Portfolio
- Theory of Knowledge .... 9/10 in Exhibition, 8/10 in Essay (A)
- Extended Essay in English A, Category 2 .... 31/34 (A)

- UCAT coaching .... 3350 / 99th %ile, employed UCAT question writer (Verbal Reasoning focus), informed teaching based on NEW changes to the UCAT (removal of Abstract Reasoning)

Other achievements:
-️ Ranked 1st in all 6 subjects in Year 12 (subject prize), subject merit in Theory of Knowledge

I adopt a holistic teaching approach in which a firm foundation in basic conceptual understanding leads the way into more challenging applications and extension problems. My system of teaching encompasses concept consolidation, revision for school tests and final exams and accelerated learning. Having received no tutoring for my IB subjects, on one hand I was able to develop a in-depth understanding of each of my subjects, but also made mistakes along the way - things that I wished I knew earlier on in my IB journey.

- Weekly booklet containing literary extracts to improve reading ability, exposure to literature from a wide range of cultures and contexts... 100+ passages available from both IB and non-IB sources, adapted to the new curriculum
- Step-by-step framework to improve depth of analysis and essay writing
- Template for preparation for Paper 2 and Individual Oral
- Model responses to past exam questions
- Marking service for Paper 1, Paper 2 and Oral (mock Oral available)

- Concept consolidation: ability to adapt instruction to your level, detailed study notes for all units of study, as well as efficient study informed by patterns in past papers.
- Non-structured 1-on-1 help: bring in difficult questions, school tests etc. and discuss course of action.
- IA/EE/Oral drafting + help: minimise stress and time spent on IAs to maximise effort in exam study. Drafting service includes detailed feedback and free 45 minute lesson to further discuss. Please contact for pricing.
- Exam revision: 20+ years worth of past papers which I have adapted myself to match all curricula changes, amounting to approximately 10, 000 questions.
- Subject selection (for pre-IB): informed and sensible subject selection based on goal uni course, personal preference, subject difficulty, personal strengths and weaknesses.

For non-IB students: I offer tutoring for Maths, English, General Science and Humanities at a Year 1-10 level. I have had success in the past also preparing primary school students for scholarship exams (primary/secondary entry), NAPLAN and various competitions (ICAS, Australian Geography Competition, Australian History Competition).
