About Meghan

I have a BA in English, BA in Education, and BFA in Theater. I am TEFL Certified. I have taought for 6 years and had lots of experience as a tutor before obtaining my certifications. I have taught in West Virginia, New York City, and Kerala India. My undergrad was based in Multiple Intelligence Theory which dictates that in order to help a student you must get to know them and adjust your teaching to what will work best for them. I have a knack for determining what methods of education work for each student and love of learning more about them to properly scaffold their learning process and craft individualized lessons to their specific needs.

About the lesson

I always start off with Ice breakers to properly get to know each other and see how they prefer to learn (playing to what they love is always the best way to move forward) and find out their interests and prior knowledge so I can assess how to build off of what they already know (a proven method of successfully exploring new information is to connect it to what is already known). I then start on their lesson and do my best to see what they already grasp and where they are challenged. I try different methods of presenting the challenging parts until something clicks and they can make an association that helps them to understand in a way that works for them.
