About Lonnie

I didn't like school, but worked my way to a Master's degree.

I enjoy the process of learning. I love seeing the progression of learning and seeing the students expressions when they learn something new.

I got started teaching years ago volunteering teaching adults for their GED.

I have a teacher's certificate.

About the lesson

Typically, with a new student, I want to establish a good rapport. Communication is key to learning. Just as important, I would like to gain trust. Students and parents should trust that the teacher not only cares, but knows what he or she is doing.

I have worked with children as young as 5 and as mature as 68.

Look for a teacher who you can communicate with. Secondly, find a teacher who genuinely cares about their craft.

I am so fond of my granddaughter recent evaluation. She is only 7, but I encourage her to read things that I read. I love when she reads to me. At 7 years old, she reads at the 4th grade level.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would ask questions that would expose a teacher's true motive for teaching. Is the teacher there for the student or the money?
