About Nicole

Hello!

My name is Nicole Suárez and I am writing to introduce myself as your child’s tutor! I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Nova Southeastern University in English, where I graduated in 2019. I have a combined 5 years of teaching and tutoring experience. My belief is that learning doesn’t start in the classroom, it begins in our environments whether they be at home or in the playground. The art of teaching and the craft comes from being able to adapt, to be flexible to your students. Many times, you will find yourself in a culture where you don’t know the language or the history, and it becomes your responsibility to figure out a medium to communicate with your students. This was the case for me when I taught in the United Arab Emirates even though I had the experience of living in Saudi Arabia previously.

My passion from the start was to appreciate all cultures and societies for the unique values they bring. In my youth, I traveled immensely and got to experience first-hand what it meant to be a citizen of the world, to not exactly belong to any one culture or nationality. It’s not exactly a gray area but a place where you become open to all sorts of communities for who they are more than what you perceive them to be.

As a Latin-American woman, I place a great amount of pride in the woman I have become of mixed heritage. I was able to find my voice and appreciate the blending narrative of who I am. In the educational atmosphere, it is imperative to find a balance to promote cultures equally and educate all students on the variety of cultures they find in their classes. This could be approached through reading a passage in a foreign language, students role-playing and becoming a new character, or playing baroque music to begin familiarizing with other types of composers.

To conclude, teaching is such a beautiful experience because as a teacher you not only instruct but observe a whole different world around you. As a teacher, you will meet individuals from all over the world where their language and traditions will be incorporated into your own. With all this unified into the personal repertoire, it becomes effortless and so humbling to impart leadership, compassion, and individuality for the future world that awaits. I am excited to start working virtually with your child and get to know how wonderful they are!
