About Makaylee
I will be a graduate of the University of Central Florida's College of Community Innovation and Education, having a Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education, starting in May of 2019. I am certified in Grades 6-12 in English. I have passed the General Knowledge Test as well as the Professional Education Exam.
I currently work at a school of choice, which is one of the top schools in the nation as well as our state. I am entrusted to help students in many grades, as I am an assistant currently in the classroom. But I have been working in classrooms as a volunteer since 2014, after I graduated high school.
I love helping people more than anything, and so teaching was very clearly my calling. Given the nature of teaching, this also involves tutoring, and I work very well one on one with students, as well as groups. I love learning a lot, honestly, and it is something I want to share with students as much as possible. English and history are my favorite subjects, and I very much enjoy writing and reading!
I was raised volunteering in schools from kindergarten and up. I have always been in classrooms, and it was just something that called to me. My senior year of high school, I was required to create a semester long curriculum regarding a subject of my choice (at the time, it was American history), and present it to the history department of my school. Their feedback and help really helped me. After I graduated, I started volunteering in my AP US History teacher's classroom every semester and he becamy my mentor. I think he really is the reason I solidified my decision to teach. He was fun, he was engaging and he encouraged us to do our best in the best ways possible.
I will have a Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education as well as a Subject Area Certification in English 6-12 in Florida, as of May of 2019.
I have been volunteering and tutoring students since 2014, and I currently am employed by a school of choice as an instructional assistant where I help students of various grades.

I like to start out by getting to know one another, usually playing some sort of question game about one another. Using writing as the method, I also like to have students answer questionairres about themselves so I can get a better feel for what they like, how they write, and what their abilities are in a casual manner.
I have worked with ESE students, ESOL students, as well as gifted students and average students. Since I already work in a school, I get the experience to work with every level of student!
Find someone you're comfortable with! You're the one seeking out a tutor, which means you get a choice in your educator --unlike in school. Don't be afraid to say you don't like the method in which you're being taught. It's your education; you know how you learn.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I have a lot of trouble with grammar and spelling some times, so I had Makaylee help me proof read a few of my essays for school. The only downside was I had to drive to Cocoa from Orlando, but it helped.
Ms. Clark helped me write an essay for my AP Lang class last year and I did really well on it.
