About Becki
I am retired and I have a Bachelor's degree in English. I have been working in the Legal Field for most of my life, where I continuously used all I learned in gaining my degree, as I continued to learn over the years I worked I have three granddaughters, ages 5, 8 and 9. I have been tutoring them in all subjects in preschool through 3rd grade, including phonics, letters, vocabulary, spelling, numbers, math, reading and writing. They also were able to read before kindergarten and how to add.
Once they entered elementary school I helped the two older girls with their homework in all subjects, including math, sentence structure, parts of the English language, spelling, reading, developing their handwriting, including cursive, and learning correct grammar. During the pandemic I was their teacher in all their subjects in grade school and with the younger one in preschool. Now that they are back in school I continue to help them with their homework, especially in all areas of English and math.
I have also tutored and am currently tutoring, PreK through 5th grade students in English and math. I have been doing this for approximately 4 years.
I also spent many years in Europe during which I taught English to children of all ages, as well as adults in ESL classes. I currently teach ESL to children and adults of all ages. I have done this teaching for approximate 11 years.
I love teaching children of all ages. It brings me so much joy to see the smiles on their faces when they learn something new. Their accomplishments make me very happy and proud of them. I really enjoy watching them grow. I teach by using humor and fun in learning. I believe learning should be fun. I have many ways of making lessons enjoyable and encouraging to the children. I use books that are funny but educational and learning letters and writing and reading through humor. I would be happy to show you some of my tools, if you are interested.
I also love teaching ESL to children of all ages and to adults as well. It is wonderful to see them learn our beautiful language.
I have a Bachelor's in English and a Law degree from The University of New Mexico. I worked as a legal secretary and paralegal for over 30 years.
I have tutored many young children and young adults in ESL.
I have worked with my grandchildren for 6 years in all aspects of preschool and elementary school. While they were home during COVID for a year, I tutored them.
