About Deana

I'm currently a Student Success Coach, but I still love teaching. I have three dogs and a cat. I love football season, and currently, gotten into watching the NBA. I love to travel and spend time with my family. I lost my passion for reading for a very long time. I've rediscovered my love to read with True Crime and suspense novels. I love all genres of music, from country to rap and hip hop. I taught for five years in the classroom. I've taught in elementary classrooms to high school; I worked in an alternative school for 3 years and a high-performing school for 1 1/2 years. I created a classroom environment that was geared around my students. I will also put my students' educational needs first. I'm a big believer in mastering reading comprehension because you will need to have this skill for all of your educational and career endeavors.

About the lesson

I provide engaging lessons that use my students interests to spark their love for education. I love using Pixar shorts to engage students and to teach them about literary devices. I use music to demonstrate how relatable poetry and music can be.

I've worked with all age groups. It's so important for students to learn comprehension skills so they have the tools to discover their passions and understand the world.
