About Lydia
I’m passionate about teaching and spend a lot of time in K-5 classrooms when I’m home from college, where I study finance at Hampton University. That hands-on experience has taught me how to keep elementary students engaged, explain things multiple ways when something isn’t clicking, and stay patient when kids get frustrated.
My lessons focus on whatever your child is currently working on in school, whether that’s reading, math, writing, or homework help across subjects. I’ll meet them where they are and build confidence alongside the actual skill, so the next assignment feels easier than the last one.
Sessions are flexible around your schedule, and I’m happy to share quick updates with parents after each one so you know what we covered.

My lessons are structured around what your child is already working on in school, not a generic curriculum. Whether that’s reading fluency, multiplication tables, writing assignments, or science projects, I build each session around their current homework and the gaps I notice along the way.
As a substitute teacher in a K-5 district, I’ve worked with kids across every elementary grade and learning style. I know how to keep younger students engaged without the session feeling like more school, and I’m patient with kids who get frustrated or shut down when something feels hard.
Sessions usually run 45-60 minutes. We start by tackling whatever’s due soonest, then spend the rest of the time strengthening the underlying skill so the next assignment feels easier. I share quick progress notes with parents after each session so you know exactly what we covered and where your child is improving. Available weekday evenings and weekends, online or in-person depending on location.
