About Akshat

Hello, I’m Ash. I grew up in Mumbai, read for a Bachelor of Management Studies at the University of Mumbai, then moved to the United Kingdom for an MSc in Marketing at the University of Bath. Living and working in the UK sharpened the way I communicate. In client-facing roles, my job was to explain complex ideas to busy, often skeptical people who wanted clarity, not jargon. That turns out to be useful preparation for tutoring, which is why I decided to turn to it seriously now that I am back in India.

I am a new tutor, and I think saying so matters. What I bring is not years of classroom experience, but careful preparation, patience, and an honest view of what each student actually needs. Every lesson is planned in advance against a clear objective. Every student receives homework they can finish, feedback they can act on, and a parent update after every session. If I don’t know the answer to a question, I will tell you and come back with it in the next lesson. That matters more to me than looking clever.

Outside work I enjoy running, weightlifting, and traveling. My recent tales include the UK, which was home until recently, and a trip across Sri Lanka and India earlier this year. Running teaches patience with slow progress; weightlifting teaches you that small, consistent effort compounds. Both are useful mindsets to bring into a tutoring session.

My classes are built around one idea: school English is learned through structured practice, not clever shortcuts. Every lesson follows the same eight-step rhythm so students know what to expect and parents can see progress clearly.

I explain one concept at a time in simple language, with examples drawn from everyday Indian life rather than textbook abstractions. We work through two or three guided examples together on a shared document, then the student practises alone while I watch quietly, ready to help if they get stuck. We review every answer together: mistakes are explained through the reasoning behind the correct answer, never just marked wrong. Each lesson ends with a short homework task of 15 to 20 minutes, and I send parents a written update within four hours.

Three things make my classes different. First, every lesson is prepared in advance against a clear learning objective, not improvised on the spot. Second, my feedback is specific. Parents receive observations like “grammar errors in writing have reduced from seven per paragraph to three”, not vague reassurances. Third, I correct mistakes respectfully. Students here are allowed to not know something; the whole point of a lesson is to change that.

My classes are intended for school students in India, Grades 6 to 8, in English-medium schools. I work equally well with students who need foundational help and those ready for more challenging material. The structure stays the same; the content adapts to each child. If your child needs board-exam coaching for Grade 10 or 12, or support for a specific learning difference, I will say so honestly and help you find a tutor better suited to that need.
