About Caroline

Hello! My name is Caroline Swift and I am currently a sophomore at Florida state! I am studying to become a Special Education Teacher and in the next 2 years will receive my bachelors / masters in education! As an experienced tutor back at home and this past semester, I am passionate about supporting student growth. Being an active member of Best Buddies, the Student Government Association (SGA) at FSU as being on the Campus Recreational Board, and serving on the internal committee of my sorority as Alumni chair, underscores my commitment to leadership, mentorship, and community engagement. These roles have honed my ability to communicate effectively and build meaningful relationships, establishing trust and professionalism. My background ensures that students not only learn but also feel empowered and confident. Therefore, I take pride in fostering a supportive, motivating environment that helps students reach their academic and personal goals.

About the lesson

As a reading and test prep tutor, my teaching approach is rooted in personalized, student-centered methods that emphasize engagement, active participation, and tailored instruction. I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive activities to reinforce comprehension and critical thinking. My techniques include breaking down complex texts into manageable parts, employing visual aids for clarity, and using practice questions to build test-taking strategies.

A typical lesson plan begins with a brief review of previously covered concepts, followed by targeted instruction on a new reading strategy or test section. Next, I engage the student with interactive exercises that allow for application and immediate feedback. The session concludes with a recap and a brief homework assignment to reinforce the day’s learning.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my adaptability and focus on confidence-building. I emphasize positive reinforcement and continuous communication with students to adjust methods as needed.
