About Simrah

I have just completed my MSc degree in International Development and achieved a First Class at the University of Bath. I undertook my undergraduate degree in double honours in Political Science and English Literature at the University of Exeter. I undertook a gap year in between to complete an internship in politics and current affairs at New York City, and also took some out to travel in Australia.

I have been a peer mentor and Academic Representative during my time at both Bath and Exeter. This has entailed advising students on essay content and structure, assisting them with research and exploring topics that need deeper understanding. I have engaged with over 20 students, including 2 who had improved grades in their first-year politics essays.

I have undertaken practical work experience in the UK, USA and India. The international working environment has equipped me with the ability to understand different perceptions and incorporate those in my strategies. I have worked in policy analysis, strategic engagement and public-private partnerships giving me a well-rounded understanding of real-life political procedures and strategic communication.

About the lesson

The basis of my teaching method is to personalise approach. During my time as a peer mentor, I learnt that different people have different ways of learning. I encourage a trial of different methods such as writing down complicated concepts, or talking about intricate arguments in order to refine one's train of thought. Once we learn what is best for an individual, we delve deeper into those methods.

However, I am an avid believer in learning by practice. Where possible, I will incorporate a practical demonstration to explain concepts.
