The field of economics studies how different parties (e.g. consumers, firms, employees, households, politicians, the government, etc.) interact in a world of scarce resources and unlimited wants. Anyone who hopes to understand how the world operates must have at least some basic understanding of concepts of economics.
That said, Economics can be technical subject. It takes time to get the basics right, and that is what I want to help students do. When students get the core theories right, it is easy to see how Economics is useful in studying the markets, government behaviour, countries national strategies, and much more!

Perfect! Hanson is knowledgeable and able to teach well. He gave good examples to support the content and asked questions to check students' understanding. I enjoyed the classes very much :)

Hanson is very nice and patient while teaching.
His teaching method is very detailed and systematic. His explanation in theoretical concepts is also easy to understand. He’ll guide you step by step and is always open to students asking questions in class.
After class, he will send you more Econs resources in case you want to learn more in depth about what he had taught in class. With his guidance, my Econs knowledge has improved. I highly recommend Hanson as your Econs tutor. :D
I was one of the students in Some Harmless Economics and I really enjoyed it! Hanson is really passionate about Economics, and covers a lot of information outside the typical syllabus covered in A-Levels. He keeps the class fun and interactive, even people new to Economics would be able to learn something and have a little fun.
I have some economics background (very surface) after taking it as an A level subject for 4 months then I dropped it because the teaching style there is disappointing. The teachers are very restricted to the syllabus in terms of their knowledge, so asking them would be futile. Since then, I didn’t care about economics that much knowing how important it is.
But, since I joined Harmless Economics, it changed my view of economics. Hanson did a great job in reviewing all chapters in a precise and structured manner. Every chapter is designed perfectly so you can make the connection you need to know what is going on in class. The theories and contents, all made sense because he derived them from their origin and not arbitrarily. The contents in The Harmless Economics is certainly not sufficient for me to be a master in economics, but it was more than enough to rekindle my love towards economics and have a brief feel of what economics look like.
This is proven when I started to ask a lot of questions when Hanson was discussing his material. Hanson’s intellectual background of being an Economics student and his extensive knowledge in this field resonates with all of his answers that have fed my new fire of curiosity.
It’s also very attractive how he also gave some extra material (eg. the theory that is related to my questions, the professors involved, etc) so I can further research on my own even though all of them are outside of the syllabus.
I guess for me, this course has the perfect balance between having too much freedom (where it can go messy) and being extremely structured (where it can be boring and dictating). This balance has allowed me to engage and enjoy all the discussions and interactive exercises that Hanson gave.
If you don’t know economics at all or have the basic knowledge, this course is a great way to start caring about economics. Even if you know economics, I believe this course is able to give you a new perspective on this domain.Hanson planned his class in a way that you can get into econs without knowing anything, and makes good uses of examples to reinforce learning. He is detailed and knows alot of extra bits to help you with learning!
